14. TROUBLESHOOTING
If you think that your receiver is defective, please check the following Q&A before contacting
us. If the device does still not work properly after the check, kindly contact your dealer for
instructions.
Symptoms Possible causes What to do
Receiver does not
power on (no display)
The lithium-ion battery
pack is discharged.
The alkaline batteries
are empty.
The battery pack or
the alkaline battery
tray is not inserted
correctly.
The battery pack or
the alkaline battery
tray terminals are dirty.
The connection of the
AC power adapter or
the cigarette lighter
DC/DC converter is
lose.
Recharge the battery pack.
Replace with new alkaline
batteries.
Press the pack or the tray firmly.
Clean the terminals with a dry
cloth.
Make sure that the plugs are
inserted correctly.
No sound
The squelch is set too
high.
CTCSS and DCS are
active.
A digital mode has
been selected.
VOL ATT value is set
too high.
Lower the squelch value.
If CTC or DCS is displayed on
screen, disable these functions.
That is normal, sound is only
heard when a digital signal is
detected.
Reduce the VOL ATT value.
Voice barely audible
(for analog reception)
Frequency slightly
offset
Try to fine-tune in 1kHz steps.
Signal is weak or
affected by multi-path
reception.
Try another location.
Voice is garbled
(for digital reception)
Incompatible digital
mode or encrypted
signal received.
