The Tate-Bryant or the TSS
conventions (each defines the roll
angle differently) follow linear or
trigonometric relationships;

roll relative to a locally level
frame of reference.
• The Tate-Bryant convention
defines roll relative to a plane
made by the deck of the
vessel after it has included the
pitch angle of the vessel.
