5.6 Misting and humidification functions
The misting and humidification function of the Xenotest
®
150
S+ allows the samples to be tested in the test chamber under
clearly defined climatic conditions.
• The humidification function allows the relative humidi-
ty in the test chamber to be regulated. The adjust-
ment range is between 10 % and 95 %. The test
chamber is humidified by means of an aerosol-free ul-
trasonic atomizer.
• The misting function allows the samples to be wetted
with treated water applied without pressure at cyclic
intervals. The misting wand distributes the water over
the samples.
Fig. 15: The misting
and humidification system is supplied
from a water reservoir 4 inside the instrument.
The level in the water reservoir is monitored by a float val-
ve 7. A solenoid 6 reports a low water level to the program
controller.
A submersion pump 5 in the water reservoir provides the
humidification system 8 with water. A misting pump 2
pumps the water for spraying the samples through the mis-
ting line to the misting wand 1.
The water is returned to the water reservoir via a return line 9.
The water reservoir can be drained through an outlet con-
nection 3.
Note - Fresh water supply:
If the samples separate particles during
tests with spraying and if the cleanliness
of the water is a test criterion, the
spraying and humidification system can
be connected to an external water circula-
tion (see also Section 3.4, Water supply).
The water return is then connected to the
sewage system (gravity drain).
The instrument-integral water reservoir is
supplied with permanently fresh, treated
water from a water treatment facility or
from an external tank.
