5.2 Absorption filter system
The absorption filter system consists of, Fig. 8:
An IR filter lantern 2 with seven filter plates 3 arran-
ged around the xenon lamp 1;
The exterior cylinder 4 made of special UV glass.
Note - Specific spectral distributions:
Specific spectral distributions can be
obtained by varying the optical filters.
Variations of the absorption filter system:
Outdoor sunlight, Fig. 9: To simulate conditions of "out-
door sunlight" (required for the testing of the weatherfast-
ness of textiles and leather), one of the seven IR filters 1 is
replaced by a UV black glass filter 2.
Sunlight through window glass, Fig. 10: To simulate con-
ditions of "sunlight through window glass" (required for the
testing of the weatherfastness of textiles and leather) all se-
ven IR filter plates 1 are placed in the IR filter lantern.
