MISSED APPROACH
The simplest and safest way to properly fly a published missed
approach is to ensure it is part of the active flight plan. It can be
activated anytime inside the FAF by pressing the L5 LSK on PFD
that is labeled “Enable Published Missed”.
After smoothly applying power for the go-around/missed
approach, ensure the aircraft is trimmed for the power setting,
establish a climb attitude and use the autopilot and the target
bugs (e.g. Altitude Bug) to set a desired climb out/missed
approach altitude. At that point, the flight director bars will be
displayed to aid your climb-out.
Prior to going missed approach, apply go-around power, ensure
the aircraft is trimmed for the power setting, establish a climb
attitude and use the autopilot to smoothly execute the assigned
climb-out or published missed approach procedures.
To fly a coupled missed approach:
ATC assigned climb-out
A recommended technique for executing the assigned climb-out
instructions is as follows:
Set the altitude bug to the assigned climb-out altitude, ideally
prior to passing the FAF
Set the VS bug to the desired climb speed or rate, ideally prior to
passing the FAF
Set the heading bug to the ATC assigned heading
At the point when you decide to go missed, add power as
required
Press the “HDG” or “NAV” button on the autopilot control head,
depending on missed approach instructions
Press the “VS” buttons on the autopilot control head to command
an altitude capture at the desired VS
