9-8 System Alerts
CROSSCHECK MONITOR
Each ADAHRS-equipped IFD comes equipped with a self-check
monitor. These monitors detect conditions that do not warrant
removal of data and are not of themselves indicative of a failure
condition.
For dual ADAHRS systems, if the ADAHRS source selection is
set to “Auto”, a crosscheck alert will cause the on-side IFD to
automatically switch to the other side and therefore, the pilot will
not see the “CROSSCHECK ATTITUDE” message. In this case,
the miscompare checking is still functional.
If the ADAHRS source selection is set to “1” or “2” or if the aircraft
is only a single ADAHRS configuration, and the crosscheck alert
is active, then the pilot will see the “CROSSCHECK ATTITUDE”
message on each IFD.
Crosscheck Attitude Alert
In the event a “CROSSCHECK ATTITUDE” message is present,
Avidyne strongly recommends scanning all backup instruments
and auxiliary instruments (backup attitude indicator, backup
airspeed indicator, backup altimeter) to crosscheck aircraft
attitude and, if it can be deemed safe to do so, to use the
autopilot to reduce workload. The warning message is
automatically removed when the self-check monitor confirms the
system attitude is valid.
In a dual ADAHRS system, the “CROSSCHECK ATTITUDE”
message will not
disconnect the DFC100 autopilot.
In a single ADAHRS system, a “CROSSCHECK ATTITUDE 1
”
message will
disconnect the DFC100 autopilot.
