Weather Data Legend (FIS-B ADS-B Weather)
NOTE
ADS-B (FIS-B) US Weather Radar Data is Coarse
When compared to subscription Datalink service
data and even ADS-B Regional data, the CONUS
weather radar data appears as a noticeably coarser
depiction – this is a function of the supplied data.
LIGHTNING AND ICING INFORMATION
When Datalink lightning data is available, the “Lightning” key on
the map pages cycles through the options, “Datalink”, “Strike”,
(and “Cell” if WX500 is installed) and “Off”. These are intended to
represent the lightning data source (“Datalink” indicates satellite
broadcast data source, “Strike” indicates an on-board lightning
sensor source, and “Off” turns those layers off from display).
Note that when there is an on-board lightning sensor selected
(Avidyne TWX670 Tactical Weather System or L3 WX500
Stormscope), the “Lightning” key becomes a split labeled LSK.
The left side of the LSK is the “Clear Strikes” function and the
right side of the LSK is used to change the source between
onboard Datalink or Off.
