9 Fault messages and monitoring functions
Description of the fault types:
Timed to External:
• "The fault gets reset automatically up to 4 times
when the fault condition disappears and the configur-
able interval "Timed reset interval” counted down.
• When the timed reset counter counted down to 0
(see parameter "Timed reset: Remaining resets" on
the Monitoring tab), an external reset is required.
The reset command can be issued by the red button,
the digital input DI3, BEST, via Modbus or by restart-
ing the frequency inverter. The fault will only be reset
when the fault condition is not present anymore.
• The timed reset counter is decreased about 1 by
each fault. For every hour of compressor operation,
it will be increased by 1 to a maximum of 4. When a
reset command is issued, the counter is reset to 4.

the instructions regarding troubleshooting, see
BEST SOFTWARE.
10 Maintenance
DANGER
Life-threatening voltages inside the frequency
inverter housing!
Contact can lead to serious injuries or death.
Never open the FI housing in operation! Switch
off the main switch and secure it against being
switched on again.
Wait for at least 10 minutes until all capacitors
have been discharged!
Before switching on again, close the FI housing.
Authorized staff
Maintenance work may only be carried out by qualified
electricians. Current guidelines apply with respect to
the qualification and expertise of the specialists.
Information
For reasons of guarantee, reliability and quality,
only qualified staff may carry out repairs on this
device. Unless stated otherwise, VARIPACK
frequency inverters must not be dismantled.
Regular and preventive maintenance work
As part of regular maintenance work on the system:
• The heat sink fans (if mounted) should rotate
smoothly and be free of dust.
• When mounted in a switch cabinet: Check the switch
cabinet filter mats and clean or replace them, if ne-
cessary.
CAUTION
In operation, the heat sink of the frequency in-
verter will get hot.
Risk of burns upon contact!
Prior to performing work on the frequency in-
verter, disconnect the power supply and wait for
at least 15 minutes until the heat sink has
cooled down.
