Troubleshooting on SMART KTF 2000 Terminal
Faults Causes Solutions
The SMART display is
blank
System powered off
Check that the connector is correctly plugged in and that
there is a 24 Vdc power voltage on pins 1-2.
Check the protection fuses
ERROR RAM message
at startup
The self-diagnostics detected an error in
the SMART system memory
Press the
button. The system will erase the user
settings and will load the default values. Reload the
parameters and custom settings. If the problem persists,
contact your BTSR reseller.
The replacement of the system’s lithium battery may be
required
The SMART system does
not accept keyboard inputs.
System halted, probably due to a sudden
over-voltage load. (e.g. lightning)
Power off and on the system. If the problem persists,
contact your BTSR reseller.
The display shows the
ERR COM DXXX
message
Faulty XXX device or incorrectly
numbered.
Assign a number to the device XXX again. If the problem
persists, replace the device.
If the problem persists, check the connection cable of the
device; replace it if necessary.
If the problem persists, assign a number to all the devices
again.
The device numbering
procedure fails (the number
YYY does not increase in
the screen

Problems on the communications line Check that the devices are correctly connected.
Check for locked devices (red LED ON). Power off and on
the system. If the problem persists, replace the device.
If the problem persists, connect one KTF device at a time
trying to isolate the problem.
The display shows the
E_SPEED message
The system is receiving a number of
PRX pulses higher than its processing
capability.
The display shows the
ERR_TL% KTF nn
message
The amount of yarn feed by KTFnn is
out of tolerance limits.
The display shows the NO
DEV MATCH
message
During the LINK function involving the
transfer of LEARN data, the number of
KTFs set up on the two SMART
terminals is not the same.
Set the same number of KTFs on both Master and Slave
The display shows the
MEMORY FULL
message
Slave memory full Contact your BTSR reseller
The display shows the
ERROR PHASE
message
The number of PRX pulses detected
within a machine cycle is greater than
or lower than the number of pulses
detected during a LEARN sample cycle
Check the tolerance programming
If necessary, repeat the LEARN sequence
The display shows the
ERROR SYNC
message
The number of PRX pulses is too high Reduce the number of pulses
If the fault is not included in this table, please contact your local BTSR reseller, giving a detailed
description of the kind of fault and the conditions in which it occurred. In the case where the BTSR
Technical Service intervention would be required, before calling it is suggested to take note of the
code printed on the faulty device(s) and/or on the SMART KTF 2000 terminal, as this information will
make diagnoses for the BTSR technicians easier.
