Furnace Thermocouple
WARNING
To avoid possible electrical shock, the instrument must be turned
off and the power cord removed from the electrical outlet prior to
any maintenance or service procedure. Use extreme caution when
performing any procedures in the vicinity of the high voltage section
of the instrument.
1. Facing the front of the instrument, remove the thermocouple cover located on
the top of the instrument.
2. Disconnect the yellow connector on the thermocouple wiring from the
controller board connector.
3. Using a 7/16” open end or adjustable wrench, loosen the nut securing the
thermocouple to the instrument. Completely unscrew the nut and slide it up
to the bend of the thermocouple.
4. Pull the thermocouple straight up and out of the instrument. Rotating the
thermocouple while pulling it from the instrument may assist in its removal.
5. Install the new thermocouple into the instrument cavity and furnace by pushing
the thermocouple straight down into the instrument. Ensure that the thermo-
couple protrudes into the furnace. If necessary, rotate the thermocouple to assist
in installation.
6. Using a 7/16” open end or adjustable wrench, tighten the nut to secure the
thermocouple to the instrument cavity.
7. Install the thermocouple wiring connector into the controller board connector.
8. Install the thermocouple access door on the top of the instrument cover.
