4.5 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, FUEL FILTER
When removing the fuel filter, a
quantity of fuel will escape. Collect
the fuel to avoid the risk of fire.
XF/XE engine
Removing the fuel filter
1. Place a tray beneath the filter.
2. Remove the filter by turning it
counter-clockwise.
Note:
The f uel filter is a disposable filter, and must
not be cleaned and reused.
Installing the fuel filter
1. Do not fill the new fuel filter with diesel fuel.
2. Lightly lubricate t he sealing ring with engine
oil, not with diesel fuel.
3. Fit the f ilter until the sealing ring abuts, and
manually rotate a ½ to ¾ turn further.
Note:
Do not use any tools when tightening.
4. Bleed the fuel system, if necessary. See
“Inspection and adjustment”.
5. Start the engine and check for leaks. If
necessary, tighten the filter.
