ESS Series User’s Manual
Working status: It is for RAID6/RAID5/RAID1.It is the RAID status after it completes
synchronization operation. When the RAID group is in working status, on the WEB interface,
from Disk->RAID, the RAID device status is “clean”.
Degraded status: It is a status after you remove one disk from the RAID1/RAID5 (working
status) or remove two disks from RAID6.
Clone: It is to provide complete data status at the specified time. After the clone operation,
even the original data logic volume has been completed damaged, you can use the clone
logic volume to restore original data.
Snapshot: It can realize online data backup and resume. Once the original data is damaged,
you can use the snapshot function to quickly restore data status at the previous time. The
snapshot is different from the mirroring: it will not occupy the space as the original data,
which saves the space. It is very fast to restore the data.
Synchronization: After creating RAID 1or RAID5, before using, system needs to read-write
the HDD at a fixed speed and adopts an algorithm to calculate. This process is so called
synchronization. During the synchronization, system performance speed is very low.
Remote backup: Based on the snapshot and the clone, the remote backup function provides
asynchronous remote backup option. It does not terminate the data production process or
the data flow processes. The background copy thread can copy the data to the remote
center in case the system encounters any accident.
