currently selected port profile for theserial port, detailed configuration settingsfor the serial port,
dependent on the port profile selected, and links to basic and advanced serial settings.
TheSerial Port Configuration page includesthe Port Settingspane that liststhe available ports and
allowsyou to configure or copy selected ports.
Select Port Profile
TheSelect Port Profile page appearswhen you click Change Profile on the Port Profile Settings
pane.
Aport profile allowsyou to easily configure a serial port based on how you intend to use that port. By
selecting oneof the pre-defined profiles, the configuration options arefocused only on the settings
required for that particular profile.
TheDigi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily supports the following port profiles:

Console Management: Manage a serial device's console port over a network connection. The
Console Management profile allowsyou to accessa Digi device'sconsole port over a network
connection. Most network devices such as routers, switches, and servers offer oneor more
serial portsfor management. Instead of connecting a terminal to theconsole port, cablethe
consoleport to the serial port of theDigi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily product. Then
using TCP/IPutilities like reverse telnet, network administratorscan accessthese consoled
serial portsfrom the LAN.

Custom: The Custom profile isan advanced option to allow full configuration of the serial port.
Usethe Custom profile only if theserial port does not fit into any of the predefined port
profiles. For example, when network connections involve a mix of TCPand UDPsockets. See
Assign a profile to aserial port for more information.

DialServ: The DialServ profile allowsconnecting a Digi DialServ™device to the serial port. Digi
DialServ isan RJ-11 phoneline simulator that allows legacy devices with built-in modems to
communicate acrossLANs/WANs. Thisprofile configures the Digi device to connect/tunnel
serial data to an external host when the DialServ receives an incoming call, causesthe DialServ
to make outgoing calls, and tunnels TCPdata from the incoming connection over theDialserv
when TCPtraffic isreceived on theconfigured portson theDigi device.
Important DialServ interoperation requiresthisprofile.
