Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Settings
Usethe SimpleNetwork Management Protocol (SNMP) Settings page to manage and monitor network
devices. You can configure Digi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily devices to use SNMP features, or
you can disable SNMPfor security reasons. For additional information, see Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP).

Enable Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP): Thischeck box enables or disables
use of SNMP.

ThePublic community and Private community fieldsspecify passwordsrequired to get
or set SNMP-managed objects. Changing public and private community namesfrom their
defaults is recommended to prevent unauthorized access to the device.

Public community: The password required to get SNMP-managed objects. The default is
public.
l
Private community: The password required to set SNMP-managed objects. The default is
private.
l
Allow SNMP clients to set device settings through SNMP: This check box enables or
disablesthe capability for usersto issue SNMPset commandsusesuse of SNMPread-only
for the Digi device.

Enable Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps: Enablesor disablesthe
generation of SNMPtraps.

Trap Destinations: Provide the IPaddressor fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the
system where the SNMPagent sendstraps. Theprimary destination isrequired. The
secondary destination is optional.
l
Primary/Secondary: The IPaddressof the system to which the SNMPagent sends traps.
To enable any of the traps, you must specify a non-zero value. The primary destination is
required. The secondary destination isoptional. If your Digi devices supports alarms, you
must complete this field in order to send alarms in the form of SNMPtraps. See Alarms
Configuration.
You can use the following SNMPtrap check boxes:

Generate authentication failure traps: The SNMPagent will send SNMPauthentication
trapswhen there areauthentication failures.
l
Generate login traps: The SNMPagent sendsSNMPlogin trapson login attempts.
l
Generate cold start traps: The SNMPagent sendstraps on cold starts of the Digi device.
l
Generate link up traps: The SNMPagent sendslink up trapswhen network connections
are established.
Date and Time Settings
Usethe Date and Time Settingspage to set the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and/or system time
and date on a device, or set the offset from UTCfor the Digi device'ssystem time.
