Truncated print
The image is too large for the printer to complete as a too much space
has been added to the print.
Continuous mode only:
Reduce the start border
Intermittent mode only:
Reduce the print delay or reduce the length of the print.
Missing prints
The line speed is too high to be able to print. Reduce the line speed or
alternatively if possible, reduce the image length.
Repeated prints
There may be a problem with electronic noise on the print-go signal.
Print-go signals generated via a relay are susceptible to excessive
noise. Use the ‘Pack Length’ setting to reduce the effect of false print-
go signals.
Print rubs off too easily
The line/print speed may be too high for the ribbon in use. Resin
ribbons are harder to print with when compared to wax ribbons. Use a
ribbon with a lower resin content if possible, otherwise, reduce the line/
print speed.
Check for contamination of the substrate. Oils and dust can cause poor
adhesion to the substrate.
Check the air supply is connected and the air regulator is set to the
correct value.
Continuous mode only:
The printhead position may not be in the optimal position. Use the
‘Carriage Adjust’ setting to adjust the printhead postion.
Print is too light
Check the air supply is connected and the air regulator is set to the
correct value.
Check for defects in the ribbon and ribbon type is appropriate for the
application.
Check the darkness setting is appropriate for the application. Set the
darkness setting to the lowest possible value that produces acceptable
print quality.
Check the gap between the printhead and print roller/platen is the
recommended 2 - 3mm, add or remove shims as necessary.
