Fault and Warning Messages
The messages are listed below along with potential causes and remedial actions.
Fault Messages
A fault will prevent the SmartDate from printing and enable the fault output. Once a fault is
activated, printing cannot restart until all faults are cleared.
If the suggested corrective action is not successful or if faults are persistent, contact Markem-
Imaje or your approved Markem-Imaje distributor.

1000 No Printer Connected Connection between Controller and Printer is
missing or has failed
Check presence and condition of
interconnecting cable and replace if
necessary
1001 Printer Power Supply Fault Power supply components have failed Replace Controller
1002 Printer Hardware Fault A fault in the printer has been detected Replace Printer
1003 Controller Hardware Fault A fault in the controller hardware has been
detected
Replace Controller
1004 Printhead Detect Failure A fault in the printhead has been detected Replace printhead
1005 Software Fault A fault in the controller software has been
detected
Power cycle the controller
1006 Software Assertion A fault in the controller software has been
detected
Power cycle the controller
1009 Printer orientation not set The Printer orientation must be set before
printing can be started
Set the Printer orientation and retry
1010 Printer connected to incompatible
controller
The printer/controller are incompatible. For
example a SmartDate X45 Controller has been
connected to a SmartDate X65 Printer
Connect the correct Controller for the
installed Printer
1011 Power Supply Interrupted A momentary power supply fault has been
detected
Power cycle the controller
1012 Unsupported printer The rmware in the Controller is not compatible
with the Printer Hardware
Contact Markem-Imaje or your approved
Markem-Imaje distributor
1013 Unknown Printhead An incompatible or faulty printhead has been
detected in the printer
Replace the printhead with a compatible
Printhead
1014 Print Sequence Lock Up The Printer has locked up Repower the printer
1015 Washdown Substrate Check Message displayed after the completion of the
washdown procedure
Check the substrate is ready before
continuing
