Starting the UPS in Bypass
Mode
If the inverter
output
of the UPS is not available and the critical load
needs
to be
energized:
CAUTION
In
Bypass mode,
the critical load is not
protected
from
commercial power interruptions
and
abnormalities.
To start the UPS
sy
stem:
1.
Unfasten
the front door by lifting the latch from the
bottom
and turning to the right
(counterclockwise)
and
swing the door open (Figure
6-1).
2. Verify that the input and
output switches
are
open.
3. Verify that the
bypass
input
switch
is open (Dual Input).

4. Verify that the
bypass switch
is open and the Neutral Switch is
closed.
5. Close the UPS input
feeder
circuit
break
er
.
6. If the UPSs are wired for dual input, close the UPS
Bypass
input
feeder
circuit
break
er
.
7. Close the input
switc
h.
8. If the UPS
contains
two input
sources,
close the
bypass
input
switc
h.
9. Close the
output switc
h.
10. Make sure MBS cover is
inst
alled.
11. Close the door and
secure
the
latc
h.
12.
Observe
the UPS control panel display
becoming
active, indicating logic
po
w
er
.
13. Verify no alarms are
activ
e.
14.
Select
the CONTROLS symbol on the main
menu
bar. The
System
Control
screen
is
displa
y
ed.
15. If not already
selected, select
UPS on the
System
Control
screen.
16. On the UPS
System
Control
screen, select
the LOAD OFF BYPASS
command,
then
press
the RETURN
pushbut
ton.

Transfer from Normal to
Bypass
Mode
To
transfer
the critical load to
Bypass mode:

Bypass mode,

1.
Select
the CONTROLS symbol on the main
menu
bar. The
System
Control
screen
is
displa
y
ed.
2. If not already
selected, select
UPS on the
System
Control
screen.
3. On the UPS
System
Control
screen, select
the NORMAL BYPASS
command,
then
press
the RETURN
pushbut
ton.
The UPS
transfers
to
Bypass
mode.
The BYPASS
status
indicator is illuminated. The
power module remains on.
