4.2.3 Remote Installation
The remote installation setup is used when the Rectifier system and the PC are located at a distance
from each other, in different buildings or areas.
The communication link is achieved via two modems and the public switched telephone network
(PSTN).
The connection between the Rectifier system modem, and the PC modem is accomplished by means of
RS232C serial cables.
Typical remote installation setup –A rectifier system connected to a PC, via modems and telephone lines
9 NOTE: Two compatible HAYES intelligent modems – with MNP5 fault correction and data
compression facilities – are necessary for communication via the standard telephone network.
9 NOTE: When using a modem: Access to an AC mains wall outlet supply may be necessary to
connect the modem to the PC. The modem connected to the Flatpack MCU is normally fed
from the DC-bus. Only true analog modems are supported (switchboard and other digital/PBX
connections are not supported):
9 NOTE: Equipment communicating via an RS232C link must be configured with the same
communication parameters:
Baud rate can be “1200”, “2400”, “4800” or “9600” baud, as well as an “8” bits word length,
parity “none” and “1” stop bit.
