Restriction
The SGM mA and SGM DO support a complete set of application and configuration options. The SGM
TPS and SGM Fixed support a subset of application and configuration options. Refer to the product
data sheet for details.
1.3 Communications tools and protocols
You can use several different communications tools and protocols to interface with the
device. You may use different tools in different locations or for different tasks.

You may be able to use other communications tools from Emerson Process Management, such as
AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager, or the Smart Wireless THUM

Adapter. Use of AMS or the
Smart Wireless THUM Adapter is not discussed in this manual. For more information on the Smart
Wireless THUM Adapter, refer to the documentation available at www.emerson.com.
