Installaon and Operaons Manual
Secon 4: Outdoor Installaon Consideraons

The outdoor unit must be installed on a solid level base that
can support it’s weight. In many cases, a snow stand will be
required to keep the lower edge of the evaporator above the
level of the average local snow depth. It is recommended that
the unit or snow stand would rest on a concrete foundaon
slab. If concrete blocks are used they must rest on suitable
base as not to sink or sele over me.
Note: Do not place the unit directly on the lawn or other
non-solid surface.
The unit should not be posioned next to noise sensive walls,
for example, next to a bedroom.
Care must be exercised during unit installaon so that
recirculaon of the outdoor air does not occur. This causes
lower output and impaired eciency.
The back of the unit must be sheltered from direct wind,
which negavely aects the defrost funcon. The air coil
side of the unit should face the wall of the home. Some
condensaon may drip from the drainage hole located at the
base of the unit. Make sure that water can properly drain way
from the unit, and home.
Service Area
The distance between the unit and the house wall must be at
least 14 inches. Clearance above the unit should be at least
40 inches. However, free space in front must be 40 inches for
future servicing. Noce the locaon of the controls and the
compressor towards the right side of the unit.
*All measurements are in inches.
Placement
Moving from the street to a unit’s nal locaon. This unit
weights roughly 400 lbs so li accordingly using plenty of help
as needed.
Note: The center of gravity is oset to one side (the right side
when looking at the front of the unit).
If the ground allows, use a pallet truck to move the unit to the
set up locaon. If that is not available and you must li the
unit into place please do so as described below.
If the unit needs to be transported across so ground, such as
a lawn, a crane be used that can li the unit to the installaon
locaon. When the unit is lied with a crane, the packaging
must be undisturbed.
If a crane is not accessible the unit may be transported on
an extended hand truck with oversized turf res (dolly, two
wheeler). The unit must be taken from its heaviest side.
Do not install the outdoor unit in the following
