Introduction
This chapter introduces the Matrix™ E1 1G694-13 standalone switch and provides information on
how to contact Enterasys Networks for support.
1.1 OVERVIEW OF THE 1G694-13
The 1G694-13 (Figure 1-1) is a standalone switch with eight fixed 1000BASE-SX MT-RJ style
ports, four Mini-GBIC style port slots for 1000BASE-SX/LX Mini-GBICs, and one uplink slot for
an optional 10-Gigabit Ethernet expansion module.

The 1G694-13 switch functions are configured using the WebView™ application, CLI switching
commands, or SNMP.
Important Notice
Depending on the firmware version used in the switch, some features described in this document
may not be supported. Refer to the Release Notes shipped with the switch to determine which
features are supported.
