4.2 TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST
If the switch is not working properly, refer to Table 4-2 for a checklist of problems, possible causes,
and recommended actions to resolve the problem.

Problem Possible Cause Recommended Action
All LEDs are
OFF.
Loss of power. Ensure that the switch was installed properly
according to the installation instructions in
Chapter 3, and that the switch has power.
No CLI prompt. Incorrect terminal setup. Refer to the Matrix E1 1G694-13
Configuration Guide for proper setup
procedures.
Improper console cable
pinouts.
Refer to Appendix A for proper Console port
pinouts.
Corrupt firmware image, or
hardware fault.
If possible, attempt to download the image to
the switch again. Refer to Section B.3 for
instructions to clear NVRAM.
Cannot log in. Improper Community
Names Table.
Refer to the Matrix E1 1G694-13
Configuration Guide for the Community
Names Table setup.
If the Community Names have been
forgotten, refer to Section B.3 for
instructions on how to set the mode switch to
reset the Community Names to their default
values.
