Telephone Operating Instructions
❖ When you hear system dial tone, dial the Paging access code for the active paging
zone. The DIRECTED CALL PICKUP button indicator changes to IDLE. The
paging equipment is released and you are connected with the paging party.
To answer a call to an unattended ringing telephone:
❖ Lift the handset.
❖ Press the DIRECTED CALL PICKUP button, or dial the Directed Call Pickup
access code. The DIRECTED CALL PICKUP button indicator changes to BUSY;
the EXT button indicator changes to ACTIVE.
❖ When you hear system dial tone, dial the prime extension number of the ringing
telephone, or press the associated DES button. The DIRECTED CALL PICKUP
button indicator changes to IDLE; the call is transferred to your telephone.
To call an extension using a DES button:
❖ Lift the handset.
❖ Check the status of the DES button.
❖ If the DES button indicator is IDLE or FLASHING (extension is idle or busy on
another line), press the DES button. The DES button indicator changes to
ACTIVE. All appearances of the extension ring and you hear ringback tone.
To transfer a call to an extension using a DES button if your telephone is programmed
for manual hold or automatic hold:
❖ Check the status of the DES button.
❖ If the indicator for the DES button is IDLE or FLASHING (extension is idle or busy
on another line), press the TRANSFER HOLD button to put the incoming call on
hold. The TRANSFER HOLD button indicator changes to ACTIVE; the button
indicator associated with the held call changes to T-HOLD.
❖ When you hear second dial tone, press the DES button. The DES button indicator
changes to ACTIVE; the TRANSFER HOLD button indicator changes to IDLE.
You hear ringback tone.
❖ To complete the transfer, press the RELEASE button or hang up either before or
after the call is answered. The button indicator associated with the held call
changes to BUSY or IDLE. The indicator for the DES button changes to BUSY.
If the called party does not accept the call, or does not answer, press the
CANCEL button or the button associated with the held call to return to the
caller.
To transfer a call to an extension using a DES button if your telephone is programmed
for automatic transfer hold:
❖ Check the status of the DES button.
❖ If the indicator for the DES button is IDLE or FLASHING (extension is idle or busy
on another line), press the DES button. The incoming call is put on hold. The button
indicator associated with the held call changes to T-HOLD. The DES button
indicator changes to ACTIVE. You hear ringback tone and the called extension
rings.
