2. Jaw & Die Removal
Ifnecessarytheentirejawmayberemoved.Supportthejawfromthebottomandremovethejawpivotbolt.Thejawmaythenbe
slidoutofandawayfromthecageplate.Reversethisproceduretoreplacethejawassemblies(seeIllustration2.E.1)
Oncethejawhasbeenremoved,extractthediekeeperscrewsandremovethediesbytappingdieslightlywithahammer.Replace
thedies,tappingthemintoplaceifnecessary,andreplacethekeeperscrews.
F. TONG RIG-UP & LEVELING
1. Suspension & Restraint
Suspendthetongfromalocationasneartothecentreofthedrillrotaryaspossible,andfromalocationhighenoughonthemast
toensureeasyhandling.Thelowerthepointfromwhichthetongissuspended,themoreeffortwillberequiredtomovethetongto
andfromtheconnectionpoint.
Thesuspensionlinemaybeextendedoverapulleyandbalancedbyacounterweightequaltotheweightofthetong,orsimplytied
offinthederricktoformadeadline.WhenusingadeadlinearrangementitisnecessarytouseaFARR®springhangerassembly
(seespecificationpageforrecommendedspringhanger).Thisspringhangercompensatesforthedownwardmovementofthecasing
asthethreadismade-up,andimpartsadditionalforcetothesuspensioncable:
• a“singlespring”hangertypicallyapplies420lbs.(191kg.)tothesuspensionlineforeveryinchofthreadmadeup
• a“doublespring”hangertypicallyapplies840lbs.(382kg.)tothesuspensionlineforeveryinchofthreadmadeup
