4. Securely strap the equipment in place using metal strapping (see Illustration 3.L.2). Place strapping as close to the cross-
membersundertheequipmentlegsaspossible,andusecautionnottoentrapanyflexiblehydraulichosesbeneaththestrapping
(guidestrappingthroughbeneaththehydraulichoses).Usethefollowingguidelinestodeterminethestrappingrequirements:

Minimumtwostraps

Beforetighteningstrapping,placestrappingprotectorswhereverthemetalstrappingcomesintocontactwiththeequipment.
Placethewoodencratecontainingthetongaccessoriesonthecratenexttotheequipment.Strapthecratetothepalletusing
3/4”x0.029”metalstrapping.Ifitisnotpracticaltoplacelargerlooseitemsinawoodencrate,ensuretheyarealsosecurely
strappedtothepalletusing3/4”x0.029”metalstrapping.
5. Usealargepolyethyleneshippingbag(sometimescalledapalletcover)tocompletelyenclosetheequipment.Sealpolyethylene
bagtothepalletusing1milpolyethylenewrap.Usethewraptoconformtheplasticcovertothegeneralshapeoftheequipment,
butdonotwrapsotightthatsharpedgesontheequipmentperforatethecover.
6. McCoyrecommendsenclosingtheequipmentinasturdyshippingcratewhichissecurelyfastenedtothepallet.
