E. ADJUSTMENTS
1. Brake Band Adjustment:
Thebrakebandsmustbeperiodicallyadjustedtocontinuetoprovidesmoothandefficientjawcamaction.Ifthecageplateturnswith
therotarygear,thejawswillnotcamproperlyand,therefore,willnotbiteonthetubingorcasing.Tighteningthebrakebandagainst
thecageplateswillincreasefrictionalresistance,allowingjawstocamproperlyandgripthecasing.Adjustthebrakebandusingthe
adjustmentnutandboltsetasshownintheillustrationbelow.Donotover-tighten,asthiscausesexcessiveweartothebrakebands.
2. Door Latch Adjustment
Normaloperationofthetongmaycausewearofthedoorlatch,whichwillcausethedoortodevelopaloosefitatthelatch.Alatch
camplateislocatedatthetopfaceofthedoor.Thecamplatehaseightpositioningholeslocatedona360degreeboltcircle.The
latchcamshaftextendsdownthroughthedoorandissecuredatthetopbya3/8”hexheadbolt.Tomakeadjustmentsindooralign-
ment,removethe3/8”boltandturnthecamwithawrench.Whenthedoorhasbeenadequatelyaligned,replacethe3/8”bolt(see
illustration3.E.2nextpage).
