Clean the Nebulizer
IMPORTANT The following procedure should be done when the instrument plasma is off,
the CyTOF Software is closed, and the nebulizer is resting in the nebulizer rest after use.
WARNING Ultraviolet light hazard. Take special care whenever the nebulizer
assembly is removed while plasma is ignited. The UV light emitted through the
nebulizer port poses an actinic ultraviolet hazard if exposure exceeds 30 min. The
nebulizer port safety shutter minimizes exposure and should not be detached from
the heater assembly or blocked at any time from covering the nebulizer port when
the nebulizer is removed.
NOTE Clean the nebulizer daily.
IMPORTANT If the CyTOF XT system is used continuously, alternate nebulizers daily to
minimize clogging. After removing the nebulizer from the system, soak in 10% Contrad® 100/Decon
90 overnight (1624 hr between uses), then thoroughly rinse with deionized water (DIW). Soak the
nebulizer in DIW when not in use.
