Frequency and Cleaning Agent
Daily
Contrad 100/Decon 90 (dilute to 10% in DIW)
1 Draw 10% Contrad/Decon through side arm
and sample inlet.
2 Soak in 10% Contrad/Decon overnight
(1624 hr).
3 Rinse with DIW and soak in DIW until next
use.
IMPORTANT To prevent damage:
Do not sonicate.
Do not clean with acidic detergent (for
example, Citranox).
Do not soak in Contrad for longer than 24 hr.
Weekly
Replace the DIW within the nebulizer rest tube
(15 mL capacity).
Weekly or after 115 hr of use
Isopropanol, Kimwipes
1 Clean with isopropanol and use Kimwipes
to remove residue.
2 Air-dry thoroughly before reinstalling on
instrument.
Weekly or more frequently as needed*
* Check the injector every 50 hr of sample
acquisition. Clean injector if buildup or
discoloration is observed at tip.
10% Contrad 100/Decon 90 in DIW
1 Soak in 10% Contrad/Decon for 1 hr.
2 Scrub with brush.
3 Rinse with DIW.
4 Dry thoroughly before reinstalling on
instrument.
Interface cones
(sampler cone and
skimmer-reducer
assembly)
Weekly or after 115 hr of use
10% Citranox in DIW, Bransonic M1800
Ultrasonic Bath (or similar sonicator)
1 Place cones with adapters into the cleaning
container.
2 Sonicate in 10% Citranox for 15 min. Do not
soak for longer than 15 min.
3 Rinse cones, adapters, and container with
DIW. Sonicate in DIW for 15 min.
4 Repeat step 3.
5 Air-dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
Autosampler fluidic
lines and nebulizer
Weekly or after 115 hr of use
10% bleach solution
(diluted to 10% v/v in DIW)
1 Turn off the nebulizer gas.
2 Place the nebulizer in the nebulizer rest
and replace the nebulizer rest tube with an
empty tube labeled Bleach Waste.
3 Run 10% bleach solution through the
Autosampler fluidic lines and nebulizer.
4 Run DIW through the Autosampler fluidic
lines and nebulizer.
