Clean the Nebulizer

4 With the nebulizer tip submerged in 10% Contrad/Decon, pull slowly on the syringe
plunger, filling the nebulizer body with detergent. Continue until the syringe body is
filled with detergent.
5 Detach the tubing from the side arm and depress the syringe plunger in a liquid waste
container to remove all the liquid.
6 Repeat Steps (3–5) for a total of 3 times.
7 Attach Tubing 2 from the Nebulizer Cleaning Kit to the sample inlet and fill the sample
capillary with the 10% Contrad/Decon.
8 Detach the tubing from the sample inlet and discard the detergent from the syringe and
tubing in a liquid waste container by depressing the syringe plunger.
9 Repeat Steps (7–8) for a total of 3 times.
10 Soak the nebulizer in a 10% Contrad/Decon bath overnight (1624 hr).
IMPORTANT Do not soak the nebulizer in Contrad for longer than 24 hr.
11 Use the syringe assembly to pull DIW into each tubing and expel, repeating several
times, to rinse detergent from both syringes and tubing pieces.
12 Repeat Steps 3–8 several times with Tubing 1 followed by Tubing 2, using DIW to rinse
the inside of the nebulizer and thoroughly rinse the outside with DIW before use. The
nebulizer is ready for immediate use.
13 If the nebulizer is not to be used immediately, submerge it in DIW until the next use.
