5.3 Configuring the server
This section contains information about configuring the server and installing the
operating system.
I Make sure that the energy saving functions are disabled in the BIOS
Setup during server operation.
5.3.1 Hard disk drive write cache
By default, the hard disk write cache is deactivated. During write operations the
data is written immediately to the hard disks.
You can change this default setting. You can activate the hard disk write cache
to increase the data flow for write operations to the hard disk.
V CAUTION!
If the hard disk write cache is active, data can be lost if there is a power
failure.

MegaRAID Software User’s Guide”.
Using the ServerView RAID
ServerView RAID can be used to make the settings for the hard disk write
cache. Further information is provided in the “ServerView RAID User's Guide”.
