5.2 Switching the server on and off
The indicators and controls for switching on and off can be found in section
“Controls and indicators” on page 55.
V CAUTION!
It nothing appears on the screen but flickering stripes after switching on
the server, switch the server off immediately (see chapter “Trouble-
shooting and tips” on page 73).
The On/Off button does not disconnect the server from the mains
voltage. Pull out the power plug to completely disconnect the server from
the line voltage.
Switching the server on
The power-on indicator lights up orange.
– Starting up for the first time:
Ê Press the On/Off button.
Ê Insert the ServerStart DVD in the DVD drive.
Ê Follow the on-screen instructions (see also section “Configuring the
server” on page 67).
– System already installed:
Ê Press the On/Off button.
The server is switched on, performs a system test and boots the
operating system.
Switching the server off
Power-on indicator lights up green.
Ê Shut down the operating system properly.
The server is switched off automatically and goes into standby mode. The
power-on indicator lights up orange.
I If the operating system does not switch the server off automatically, press
the On/Off button for at least four seconds.
