7.2 Basic information
The HDD or SSD and the installation frame together make up the HDD module
or SSD module.
The server is shipped with one of the following HDD or SSD subsystems:
–
3.5-inch HDD subsystem
–
2.5-inch HDD/SSD subsystem
3.5-inch HDD subsystem
Up to four 3.5-inch SAS/SA
T
A HDD modules can be installed. The HDD
module is connected to the HDD backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD
modules to be plugged in or pulled out easily.
For information on RAID controllers controlling the HDD modules, see
"Expansion cards and backup units" on page 183.
2.5-inch HDD/SSD subsystem
Up to four, eight or ten 2.5-inch SAS/SA
TA HDD/SSD modules can be
installed.
The HDD/SSD modules are connected to the HDD backplane wirelessly. This
allows HDD/SSD modules to be plugged in or pulled out easily. If the server
has a corresponding RAID configuration, defective HDD/SSD modules can
also be replaced during operation.
In the configuration with the 4x 2.5-inch PCIe SSD backplane with 4x
Oculink connectors, you can install up to four PCIe SSD modules in the
bays 1 - 4.
For information on RAID controllers controlling the HDD/SSD modules,
see "Expansion cards and backup units" on page 183.
