5.5.8 Replacing a Fire Cylinder
Prerequisites
A fire cylinder needs to be replaced.
A spare fire cylinder of the same model is available and functional.

Preparations
Tools: pallet truck, Phillips screwdriver, protective gloves, adjustable wrench
Materials: spare fire cylinder
Documents required: fire extinguishing device layout diagram
Skill requirement: fire extinguishing engineer

Procedure
Step 1 Move the fire cylinder to the place where a faulty fire cylinder needs to be replaced.
Step 2 Disconnect the cable between the solenoid valve and the fire control panel, and disconnect
cables from the pneumatic pressure switch.
Step 3 Remove the manual gas release valve and solenoid valve.
Step 4 Loosen the clamps on the fire cylinder using a screwdriver, move the fire cylinder out of the
installation position.
Step 5 Move the new fire cylinder to the installation position.
Step 6 Mount a rubber washer between the fire cylinder and the clamp, and tighten the clamp using a
Phillips screwdriver.
Fix the cylinder in the fire cylinder box using the preinstalled straps. Considering space
limitation, use a screwdriver longer than 200 mm to secure the straps.
Keep the pressure gauge panel outward so that people can view the reading.
Step 7 Install the solenoid valve and then the manual gas release valve at the container valve on the
fire cylinder, as shown in Figure 5-61.
