1.6 Risk of sparks
Sparks can occur when you do work on the battery
and the thick cables.
Sparks can cause battery explosions, re or eye
injuries. Sparks can not occur in the circuit when the
battery ground frame cable (normally black negative
cable) is disconnected.
Prevent sparks and their consequences as fol-
lows:
• Use protective goggles.
• Make sure that the fuel tank cap is atttached and
that there are no ammable liquids stored in open
vessels.
• Do not do work on the starter motor circuit near
fuel spill.
• Disconnect the ground cable of the battery
(normally a black negative cable) rst and
connect it last.
• Be careful not to cause short circuits with tools.
CAUTION: Dispose of waste oil and old
oil lters as dangerous waste.
