Battery
The following procedures cover removal and replacement of the battery.
CAUTION:
A lithium battery can cause fire, explosion, or severe burn. Do not recharge,
disassemble, heat above 100°C (212°F), solder directly to the cell, incinerate, or
expose cell contents to water. Keep away from children. Replace only with the
part number specified for your system. Use of another battery may present a risk
of fire or explosion.
The battery connector is polarized; do not attempt to reverse polarity.
Dispose of the battery according to local regulations.
Removal
1. If you have not already done so, shut down the system as described in “Stopping
the System” on page 254.
2. If you have not already done so, unplug the system power cables from the electrical
outlets.
3. If your system is a Model 6C1 (rack mount), place the system in the service position
as described in “Placing the Model 6C1 in the Service Position” on page 255.
4. If you have not already done so, remove the service access cover as described in
“Covers” on page 258.
5. If you have not already done so, remove the processor and memory card cover as
described in “Processor and Memory Card Cover” on page 264.
6. Remove the processor cards as described in “Processor Card” on page 273.
7. Remove the memory card as described in “Memory Card and Memory DIMMs” on
page 266.
