USB 2.0 Support
The Desktop Board supports up to seven USB 2.0 ports (four ports rout ed t o t he back
panel and t hree ports routed to two front panel USB 2.0 headers) . One of the front
panel USB headers supports an I ntel Z- U130 USB Solid- St at e Drive or com pat ible
device. The USB 2.0 ports are com patible wit h USB 1.1 devices. USB 1.1 devices will
function norm ally at USB 1.1 speeds.
USB 2.0 support requires both an operat ing syst em and drivers that fully support
USB 2.0 t ransfer rat es. Disabling High-Speed USB in t he BI OS rev erts all USB 2.0
port s t o USB 1.1 operat ion. This m ay be required to accom m odat e operat ing syst em s
that do not support USB 2.0.
NOTE
Com puter syst em s that have an unshielded cable att ached to a USB port m ight not
m eet FCC Class B r equir em ent s, even if no device or a low- speed USB device is
at tached to t he cable. Use a shielded cable that m eet s the requirem ent s for a
full- speed USB device.
SATA Interface
The Desktop Board supports t wo SATA channels (3.0 Gb/ s) that support one device
per channel. The SATA controller support s I DE and ACHI configuration and can
operat e in bot h legacy and native m odes.
Expandability
The Desktop Board pr ovides the following expansion capabilit y:
• One PCI bus connect or. The connect or can support eit her a single PCI add- in card
or a single- or dual-slot PCI riser card.
• One PCI Express Full- Mini Card slot ( com pat ible with Full- and Half- Mini cards) .
BIOS
The BI OS provides the Pow er- On Self-Test (POST) , t he BI OS Set up program , t he PCI
and SATA auto- configurat ion utilities, and the video BI OS.
PCI/PCI Express Auto Configuration
I f you inst all a PCI / PCI Express add-in card in your com put er, t he PCI/ PCI Express
auto- configurat ion ut ility in the BI OS autom at ically detect s and configures the
resources ( I RQs, DMA channels, and I / O space) for that add- in card. You do not need
to run t he BI OS Set up program aft er you install a PCI/ PCI Express add- in card.
