3 Updating the BIOS
The BI OS Set up program can be used to view and change t he BI OS set t ings for t he
com puter. You can access the BI OS Setup program by pressing t he < F2> key after
t he Power- On Self- Test (POST) m em ory t est begins and before the operat ing syst em
boot begins.
This chapter t ells you how t o update the BI OS by eit her using t he I ntel Express BI OS
Update ut ilit y or the I flash Mem ory Updat e ut ilit y, and how t o recover the BI OS if an
updat e fails.

the Windows environm ent. The BI OS file is included in an autom at ed updat e utilit y
that com bines t he funct ionality of the I ntel
®
Flash Mem ory Updat e Ut ility and the ease
of use of Windows- based inst allat ion wizards.
To update t he BI OS wit h t he I ntel Express BI OS Update ut ilit y:
1. Go to t he Intel World Wide Web sit e Download Center at
ht t p: / / downloadcent er.intel.com /
2. Navigate to t he D2550DC2 page. Click on the “ BI OS Updat e” link and t hen select
t he Express BI OS Updat e file.
3. Download t he file to y our hard drive. ( You can also save t his file t o a rem ovable
USB device. This is useful if you are updat ing the BI OS for m ultiple identical
syst em s.)
4. Close all ot her applicat ions. This st ep is required. Your syst em will be r eboot ed at
the last Express BI OS Updat e window.
5. Double- click t he executable file from the locat ion on your hard drive wher e it w as
saved. This runs the updat e program .
6. Follow t he inst ruct ions provided in t he dialog boxes t o com plete the BI OS updat e.
