Configuring Clusters and Controllers

Use the iSTAR Web Page to define the controller type (master), the controller IP address, the primary connection type, and the

C•CURE address.

Configuring an iSTAR cluster

LAN Configurations

Requirements for LAN configurations vary from site to site. The following procedure describes most configurations:

1. Connect and power on all iSTAR Edge G2 controllers.

2. Open the iSTAR Web Page and select Configuration. The General tab of the Configuration page is displayed.

3. Click the pencil icon in the top-right of the screen to open the editing mode.

For master panels:

• Check the Master Controller checkbox to define the panel as a master.

• Specify the IP address of the host in the Host Address field.

• Specify the IP address of the master (DHCP is recommended).

• Define the host IP address or the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) with which the master will communicate.

For member panels:

• Ensure the Master Controller checkbox is not checked.

• Specify the IP address of the master panel in the Master Address field.

• Specify the IP address of the host in the Host Address field.

• Specify the IP address of the master (DHCP is recommended).

4. Use the C•CURE Administration application to configure:

• Master and member names.

• Master and member MAC addresses.

5. Use the C•CURE Administration application to configure the cluster and download cluster information. During the

download, the following occurs:

• Master establishes a connection with the C•CURE host.

• C•CURE Host downloads member information.

• Members beacon a "request for service" message across the subnet.

• Master matches the "request for service" message with the member address information and downloads its own IP

address.

• Members establish connection with the master.

WAN Configurations

1. Connect and power all iSTAR Edge G2 controllers.

2. Open the iSTAR Web Page and select Configuration. The General tab of the Configuration page is displayed.
