Configuring SNMP
You can enable and configure Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) communication on the iSTAR Edge G2.
1. Connect and power on all iSTAR Edge G2 controllers.
2. Open the iSTAR Web Page and select Configuration.
3. Select SNMP on the tab bar. The SNMP tab is displayed.
4. Click on the edit icon in the top-right corner to enable edit mode.
5. Click on the Enable SNMP toggle to enable SNMP.
6. Click on the Enable Security toggle to enable Community Name and Community Right fields.
Table 22 displays the SNMP and Security options available when the SNMP and Security toggles are enabled.
NOTE
Some options are only displayed when their respective toggle switch is in the enable position.

Field Description
Community
Name
Set the SNMP communities to which this Controller belongs. An SNMP device or agent can belong to more than one SNMP community.
A device does not respond to requests from SNMP management stations that do not belong to one of its communities. Obtain this
information from your Network Administrator.
Rights Set the access right for the specified community. When an SNMP message is received by the Controller, it is evaluated based on these
rights.
No Access – The SNMP message from a management system in this community is discarded.
Read Only – Only GET, GET-NEXT, and GET-BULK requests are processed. SET requests are not processed from this community.
Read Create – SET, GET, GET-NEXT, and GET-BULK requests are processed.

Manager
Enter the IP address or host name of the SNMP Trap Manager for this iSTAR controller.
SNMP
Hosts
Only accept SNMP packets from this Host – Select this option if you want the iSTAR controller to accept SNMP messages from a
specified host only.
Contact Specify the SNMP-contact, a 1-64-character string usually containing an emergency contact name and telephone number or email
address.
Location Specify the SNMP-location, a 1-64 character string usually containing information about the controller/panel.
