Sprockets are designed to transport the lm continuously. The teeth of the sprocket
engage the perforations of the lm. Both sprockets provide for equal loops before and
after the lm gate.

» The feed sprocket (left gure) pulls the lm from the take-off friction or platter to the
lm gate.
» The bottom sprocket (right gure) pulls the lm out of the sound head and feeds it
to the take-up friction or platter.
» The pad shoe holds the lm on the sprocket.
» The lm stripper prevents broken lm from being wound up around the sprocket.
» With the handle you can open the pad shoe to thread the lm.
