correct side

- lower loop wrong size
- wrong threading path
- thread correctly

Loss of high fre-
quencies
- dirty sound optics
- sound optics focused poorly
- clean with lens cleaner and Q-tip
- adjust sound optics’ focus (service)
Garbled sound - scanning drum jammed
- sound pressure roller loose
- remove blockage; change or oil

- adjust tension (service)
Hissing sounds - scratches on sound track
- dirt on sound track
- defective sound electronics
- replace print
- clean
- troubleshoot and replace (service)

- lm is encoded for digital playback
- digital sound processor is on
- processor is switched to the correct
mode
- disk is loaded correctly and the
right disk is in place [DTS only]
- lm is threaded correctly

with picture
- loops wrong size
- wrong threading path
- thread correctly
- thread correctly
Poor digital sound - improper tension
- dirt on lens
- dirt on digital sound track
- scratches on digital track
- re-thread
- remove dust using compressed air
- clean digital soundtrack
- replace print
