Measurements with the plate or rod method page 41
Rod
*
For the rod a smaller amount of test liquid is required due to the shorter wetted
length. However, the results are slightly less accurate when the wetted length is
shorter.
Determine the diameter of the rod as close to the lower edge as possible and with
an accuracy of at least 10 μm.
Multiply the measured diameter by the number π (3.1416) and enter the result as
the wetted length.
7.2 Parameters for the plate method in Setup
The first two pages of the
Setup
menu contain parameters which affect the course of
the measurement with the plate method. Assumingly, they rarely need to be altered.
Only those parameters which are relevant for the plate method are described here; the
complete
Setup
menu is described in chapter 10.
To open the
Setup
menu press the key
.
The parameters which are relevant for the plate method are
Immersion speed
and
Search speed
on the first page and
Immersion depth
on the second page of the
setup menu.
7.2.1 Immersing speed (mm/min)
After a surface has been detected the plate is immersed in the liquid to a depth defined
by you. You should alter the immersion speed here when you are measuring very
viscous or viscoelastic substances. However, the value of 100 mm/min set by us is
normally suitable.
