page 38 Preparing a measurement
6.5 Check list before starting a measurement
The following preparations should have been made before a measurement is started:
A warming-up period of 2 hours must be observed directly after the instrument is
switched on.
Take care that you have selected the correct main menu (
Plate
,
Ring
or
Density
)
for the intended method. Also check that the correct measuring method has been
selected (
SFT
or
IFT
). For surface tension measurements with the ring method you
must also select between
Push
and
Pull
.
Make sure that the parameters in the main menu and setup are suitable for the
measurement.
The probe (plate, ring or density probe) must been cleaned and attached to the
probe holder.
The probe and the liquid must no longer move about. The doors of the measuring
chamber must be closed.
The liquid must have reached the required temperature for the measurement.
If data are to be transferred the computer must be connected and the data logger
add-in of the LabDesk software loaded. The button
in the symbol bar must
be pressed. Otherwise the measurement will be carried out without you having any
possibility of storing the data.
If data are to be transferred to a protocol printer the printer must be connected and
operational.
