6.5 Check list before starting a measurement
The following preparations should have been made before a measurement is started:
• A warming-up period of 2 hours must be observed directly after the instrument is
switched on.
• Take care that you have selected the correct main menu (
Plate
,
Ring
or
Density
)
for the intended method. Also check that the correct measuring method has been
selected (
SFT
or
IFT
). For surface tension measurements with the ring method you
must also select between
Push
and
Pull
.
• Make sure that the parameters in the main menu and setup are suitable for the
measurement.
• The probe (plate, ring or density probe) must been cleaned and attached to the
probe holder.
• The probe and the liquid must no longer move about. The doors of the measuring
chamber must be closed.
• The liquid must have reached the required temperature for the measurement.
• If data are to be transferred the computer must be connected and the data logger
add-in of the LabDesk software loaded. The button
in the symbol bar must
be pressed. Otherwise the measurement will be carried out without you having any
possibility of storing the data.
• If data are to be transferred to a protocol printer the printer must be connected and
operational.
