Track Status Indicators
UsingtheUp,Down,Left,andRightcursorbuttonstopositionthecursorontoaTrackStatus
Indicator,youcantoggleanemptytrack(–)intoRecord(R)withtheAlphaWheelorPlus/
Minusbuttons.
Onceatrackcontainsdata,itwillhavea(P)asaTrack Status
Indicator,anditwillbeplayed
duringplayback.YounowwillbeabletotogglebetweenPlay(P),Mute(M),andRecord(R).
ThetrackselectedastheRecTrkwilldisplayan(R),designatingitastherecordingtrack.Ifthe
RecTrkissettoMult,initiallyallemptytrackswill
haveRecord(R)asaTrackStatusIndicator,
anyofwhichcanbeswitchedbacktoempty(–)ifatanytimerecordingonspecifictracksisnot
desired.
Ifthereisn’tatrackwithan(R),theRecTrkparametersvaluewillbeNone.(Theexceptionis
whentheRecTrk
issettoMultandyouhaveswitchedallofthetracksoutofrecordenable.)
Track Channels
EachtrackhasaMIDIChannelthatitusestoreceiveandtransmitdata.Bydefault,tracks1–16
ofanewsongareassignedtoChannels1–16respectively,althoughatrackcanplayorrecordon
anychannelandthesamechannelcanbeusedformorethanonetrack.Keep
inmind,however,
thatonlyoneprogramcanbeassignedtoachannelatatime,soifyouhavemorethanonetrack
assignedtothesamechannel,they’llplaythesameprogram—theoneonthe highernumbered
track,sincethat’sthemostrecentProgramChangecommandreceivedon
thatchannel.
Soft Buttons on the MAIN Page
Thissectioncontainsdescriptionsofthefunctionsofthe functionsoftbuttons,thatis,the
buttonswithlabelsnotinallcaps.Aswithallothermodes,thesoftbuttonsinSongModethat
havelabelsinallcapscallupdifferentpages.Seethefollowingsectionsfordescriptionsonhow
thesepageswork.
The Rec, Play, and Stop Soft Buttons
NOTE:Thesebuttonsaresimilartothetransportcontrolsonatapedeck.Someofthosedecksrequireyou
topressPlayandRecordsimultaneouslytobeginrecording.ThePC3LE’stransportbuttonsaren’tlike
that,however.It’simportantthatyoupressonlyoneof
thesesoftbuttonsatatimetoinsureproper
recordingstartpoints,andtoalwaysbesureofthecurrentsequencerstatus.
TheRecsoftbuttonchangestheSongStatustoREC.READYifthecurrentSongStatusis
STOPPED.IfthecurrentSongStatusisPLAYING,itwillbeswitched
toRECORDINGwhenyou
pressRec.
ThePlaysoftbuttonplaysbackanyrecordeddatawhenpressedwhilethesongstatusis
STOPPED.PlaybackwillbeginfromthebarandbeatspecifiedintheLocateparameter.When
theSongStatusisRECREADY,pressingthePlaysoftbuttonwillbeginrecording.
ThePlaysoftbuttonfunctionsasaPausebutton,butonlywhentheSongStatusisPLAYINGor
RECORDING.PressingPlaywhilethesongisplayingwillstoptheplayback,andthelocation
remainsatthecurrentbarandbeat,allowingyoutocontinuefromthatlocationbypressing
Playagain.
PressingPausewhilerecordingwillstoptherecordingprocessasifyouhadpressedStop.
