Building a Keymap
Here’safairlyimportantpointthatmayormaynotaffectyourkeymapconstruction.Suppose
youwanttobuildakeymapthatusesthesamesampleinseveraladjacentkeyranges,andyou
plantoaddabitofdetuningtothesamplesineachrange.Youmightthinkthatyou
couldbuild
thekeymapfirst,thengointotheSampleEditorandtweakthesamplesettingsofeachkeyrange
whenthekeymapisfinished.Yes,but…
Supposeyouusedthetechniquewedescribedabovetoassignavocalsamplewhoserootwas
C4toakeyrangefromA3to
E4.ThenyouassignedthesamesampletoakeyrangefromF4to
B4.Youmightbesurprisedtofind thatwhenyoufinis hedtheF4–B4keyrangeandthe
Keymapeditorpagereappeared,thecurrentkeyrangewouldnotbeF4toB
4,butA3toB4!
ThisisbecausethePC3LEautomaticallymergesadjacentkeyrangesthatareidentical(thisis
donetosavememory).Therefore,someparametermustbedifferentineachadjacentkeyrange
youcreateifyouwanttobuildkeymapsusingthetechniquewejustdescribed.
Soifyouwantto
usethesamesamplesinadjacentkeyrangeswith,forexample,minorpitchorvolume
modification,youshouldmakethosechangestothecurrentsampleontheKeymapeditorpage
beforeassigningthenextrange.
