(1-14) Error code 0420 [C0] (serial communication error between paper feeder and engine/high voltage PWB)
Detection conditions
• Communication ready signal time-out occurs continuously more than specified times in serial communication with an
optional paper feeder that is recognized by the CPU on the engine/high voltage PWB.
• Inconsistency of values in serial communication data occurs more than specified times.
Corrective measures
Is there any damage to
the harness (S02813) between
the engine/high voltage PWB and the
optional interface connector 1 or improper
connection at the YC15 connector on
the engine/high voltage
PWB?
Is there any damage to
the harness between the
paper feeder drive PWB and the interface
connector or improper connection at the CN2 or
CN3 connector on the paper feeder
drive PWB?
Is the paper
feeder installed
properly to the
printer?
Is the symptom after
restarting the printer (turning
off and on) following the error A or B?

Is the
duplexer installed?
If any problem is found on the
harness or the connector,
repair or replace it.
Replace the malfunctioning
paper feeder.
Reinstall the paper feeder.

Start
Turn on the printer, connect a tester
or an oscilloscope, and measure as
follows.
If multiple paper feeders are
installed, remove them one by one
and restart the printer to identify the
malfunctioning paper feeder.
Is the voltage at pin
No. 6 of the YC15 connector
on the engine/high voltage PWB 24 V DC
and that of pin No. Y1 5 V DC in
the printer standby
mode?
Is the
malfunctioning paper
feeder identified?
Carry out the following check
referring to the service manual of the
paper feeder.
• Engine/high voltage PWB
• Harness (S02813)
• Installation conditions
of the printer and optional
units
