1. Dirty main charger wire.
Clean the main charger wire. If the wire is heavily dirty, replace the
main charger unit. (See page 1-6-16.)

2. Dirty developing section.
3. Main charger shield leakage.
4. Separation charger brush leakage.
(7) A black line appears

1. Flawed drum.
2. Dirty developing section.
3. Main charger shield leakage.
4. Separation charger brush leakage.

longitudinally.
Causes
1. Defective main charger cleaner setting
position.
2. Dirty or flawed drum.
3. Deformed or worn cleaning blade.
4. Dirty main charger wire.

position.
2. Dirty or flawed drum.
3. Deformed or worn cleaning blade.
4. Dirty main charger wire.
Replace the process unit.
If the developing section is dirty with toner, clean it.
Clean the main charger wire, grid, and shield.
Clean the separation charger brush. (See page 1-6-17.)
Return the main charger cleaner to its home position.
Perform drum surface refreshing. (See page 1-4-6.) If the drum is
flawed, replace the process unit.
Replace the process unit.
Clean the main charger wire. If the wire is heavily dirty, replace the
main charger unit. (See page 1-6-16.)
