5-2 INSTALLATION
5.2.2 Preparation by the Owner
Before the installation can be done, some tasks must be done by the
owner of the concentrate feeder with support from the Lely service
provider. These tasks are construction tasks for the farm and the purchase
of equipment necessary to use the concentrate feeder.
Example tasks are:
• Install a PC with T4C software in demo mode (if not already done).
• Make sure that USB data storage space for making backups is
available.
• Make sure a network cable is installed between the T4C PC and the
concentrate feeder.
• Make sure all cows have a collar with a tag and a number on both
sides.
• Make sure all cows are entered in T4C.
• Make sure all responder numbers are entered in T4C.
• Make sure a feed quantity for each cow is entered in T4C.
• Have the electrical supply installed and have it approved by the
energy company.
• Have the air compressor installed.
• Install the earth wire and get it approved by the energy company.
• Install an external feed delivery system.
• Consult the local Lely service provider for the correct position of the
concentrate feeder in the barn.
• Read and understand the concentrate feeder Installation and
Operator Manual.
5.2.2.1 Recommendations for installation of an External Feed
Delivery System
Please consult your Lely service provider for advice about the
installation of the tube feeder(s).
• If possible do not install the tube feeder(s) above the concentrate
feeder. This prevents contamination of the concentrate feeder with
dust.
• If you do:
• Install a screen between the tube feeders and the concentrate
feeder.
• Make sure the distance between the floor and the bottom of the feed
system is at least 215 cm (85.7 in).
• Make holes in the cover of the feed funnel to attach the drop pipes
from the tube feeders. The holes in the cover of the feed funnel must
be the correct size for the drop pipes so that dust does not
contaminate the concentrate feeder.
