The feed unit can have 1-4 feed hoppers, each with a feed funnel and a
dosing unit.
4.2.2.1 Hoppers
The concentrate feeder has up to four hoppers. In most cases the feed
hoppers are filled by tube feeders that are connected to silos.
Lely does not supply tube feeders and silos.
A feed hopper can contain 48 cm

of concentrates.
Each hopper is connected via a feed funnel to a dosing unit that provides
portions of concentrates.
4.2.2.2 Dosing Unit
The dosing unit gives the exact quantity of feed portions. It has a rotating
lock that opens and closes the unit. The lock is operated by a pneumatic
rotary drive via a quadrangular pipe which second function is to loosen
the feed in the feed funnel.
The amount of concentrate to be fed to a cow is based on calculations
made in the T4C farm management system.
The proportion of each feed type and the total amount that is fed can be
set per cow, group or herd.
4.2.2.3 Feed Bin
The feed bin is made of stainless steel.
4.2.3 Control Box
The control box controls the identification of cows, the supply of feed
and the lowering or raising of the M-box.
It has the following parts:
• ADS3830 PCB.
• Air valves.
• Air pressure ON /OFF valve.
• Pressure reducer 2 bar (29 psi) (Close M-box).
• Pressure reducer 4 bar (58 psi) (Open M-box).
• Photocell (only Qwes IR models).
• Qwes IR reader (only Qwes IR models).
• Velos box (only Qwes ISO leg models).
• Power supply with safe life switch (optional).
• Network switch (optional).
The concentrate feeder gets input from the T4C farm management
software.
