timesbeforetheoperating
systemstarts.
Ensurethatnokeysarestuck.
Troubleshootingprocedure
Usethefollowingprocedureasastartingpointfordiagnosingproblemsyouareexperiencingwithyour
computer:
1.Ensurethatthecablesforallattacheddevicesareconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
2.Ensurethatallattacheddevicesthatrequireacpowerareconnectedtoproperlygrounded,functioning
electricaloutlets.
3.EnsurethatallattacheddevicesareenabledintheBIOSsettingsofyourcomputer.Formoreinformation
aboutaccessingandchangingtheBIOSsettings,referto“UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage59.
4.Goto“Troubleshooting”onpage72andfollowtheinstructionsforthetypeofproblemyouare
experiencing.Ifthetroubleshootinginformationdoesnothelpyousolvetheproblem,continuewiththe
nextstep.
5.Tryusingapreviouslycapturedconfigurationtoseeifarecentchangetohardwareorsoftwaresettings
hascausedaproblem.Beforerestoringapreviousconfiguration,captureyourcurrentconfigurationin
casetheolderconfigurationsettingsdonotsolvetheproblemorhaveadverseeffects.Torestorea
capturedconfiguration,dothefollowing:
ForWindows7:ClickStartControlPanelSystemandSecuritySystemSystem
ProtectionSystemRestore.
ForWindows8.1:OpenControlPanel,andthenclickSystemandSecuritySystemSystem
ProtectionSystemRestore.

Ifthediagnosticprogramdetectsahardwarefailureorifyouareunabletorunthediagnostic
program,contacttheLenovoCustomerSupportCenter.SeeChapter12“Gettinginformation,help,
andservice”onpage129formoreinformation.
Ifthediagnosticprogramdoesnotdetectahardwarefailure,continuewiththenextstep.
7.Useanantivirusprogramtoseeifyourcomputerhasbeeninfectedbyavirus.Iftheprogramdetectsa
virus,removethevirus.
